A little more context on how to use your estimate.
How is the weekly target calculated?
The monthly target is multiplied by 12 and divided by 52, which averages the annual target across 52 weeks. The calculator does not divide the monthly target by four.
How is the daily target calculated?
The monthly target is divided by 30 and labeled an approximate daily equivalent.
How is the hourly target calculated?
The monthly target is divided by estimated monthly available hours, using weekly hours × 52 ÷ 12. It represents average value per available hour, not a guaranteed wage or expected earning rate. If weekly hours are zero, no hourly target is calculated.
Why is there a planning reserve?
An optional reserve can show a gross target that leaves room for a percentage of the gross amount. It is a planning estimate only, not tax owed or tax advice. Actual taxes and expenses depend on individual circumstances.
Does the calculator guarantee I can make this amount?
No. It does not guarantee earnings, employment, business success, investment results, or tax outcomes. Income opportunities vary in skills, time, expense, risk, and market demand.
What if I already have enough income?
If current income covers the required needs and selected goals, your additional target may be zero. If your required expenses are lower than your income, the snapshot may also show an estimated current surplus after required needs.
What side-income paths can I explore?
Broad categories include freelancing, consulting, digital products, affiliate marketing, online courses, local service businesses, part-time employment, and AI-assisted businesses. The recommendations are ideas to research, not promises of income.
Do I need to start a business?
No. You can explore employment, gig work, skilled services, or business ideas depending on your circumstances and preferences.
Are my answers stored?
The calculator runs its calculations in your browser and does not store your answers. You can print your plan if you want a copy for yourself.
Can I save my answers and come back later?
The calculator does not save your entries for a later visit. If you want to keep a copy of your results, use the print option before closing the page.
Can I change my answers after I see my results?
Yes. Choose “Change My Answers” to review and update your entries, or “Start Over” to begin a new estimate.
What belongs in essential expenses?
Include recurring household necessities such as housing, utilities, food, transportation, insurance, healthcare, childcare, and other costs you need to cover.
How should I account for annual or irregular bills?
Estimate a monthly amount by dividing a predictable annual bill by 12. For irregular costs, use a reasonable average and remember that the calculator cannot anticipate every expense.
How do I choose my available work hours?
Enter hours you could realistically set aside after work, caregiving, rest, and other commitments. The hourly figure is an average planning value, not an expected pay rate.
Does the planning reserve tell me how much tax I will owe?
No. It illustrates a higher gross target using the percentage you select. It does not calculate taxes, business expenses, or your tax liability.
Is the website free to use?
Yes. The calculator is available without a fee, account, or email requirement to view your results.
Can I use the website on my phone or tablet?
Yes. The pages are designed to adjust to smaller screens. You can use a current mobile or desktop browser with JavaScript enabled for the calculator.
Does the calculator send my financial entries to the website?
The calculator processes your entries in your browser and does not store them. Avoid entering information you do not want displayed on your own screen or included in a printout.
How should I decide which side-hustle idea to explore?
Compare an idea with your skills, available time, startup budget, customer demand, costs, and personal responsibilities. Research the terms and risks before committing money or time.
What costs should I check before starting a side hustle?
Consider supplies, equipment, software, platform fees, licenses, insurance, marketing, taxes, payment processing, and the value of your time. Costs depend on the activity and location.
Can part-time work count as side income?
Yes. A side-income plan can include part-time employment, contract work, freelancing, local services, or a small business. Choose an option that fits your circumstances.
How much can I expect to earn from a side hustle?
There is no reliable amount that applies to everyone. Earnings vary with the work, skill, time, expenses, demand, location, and other factors; the calculator does not forecast or guarantee them.
Are the linked resources endorsements or income guarantees?
No. Links are optional educational resources. Review each provider, its costs, terms, refund policy, and claims independently before deciding whether it is right for you.
Do I have to buy a course or service to use the calculator?
No. The calculator and its planning information are usable without purchasing a course, service, or other resource.
